Your Constant Love

I long for consistency and constancy - It makes me feel safe. If the world has taught us anything, especially since Covid, it's that the unthinkable can happen and does. Things are not safe, people are often not safe. This made me think about what has been constant, consistent and safe in my life. God never changes his mind. He does not lie. He has committed himself to know us and he treasures us. This constancy has been a lifeline in a world where there is very little that stays the same.

All of my life, I have been longing

For safety and peace, a place of belonging.

I’ve struggled to trust, believe I’m enough

Life seemed to tell me - you don’t measure up

But Your constant love, is bringing me healing

Jesus, Your gentle ways are what I’ve been needing

Down through the years, over the ages

Lord, You’ve never changed, You’ve remained faithful

You’ve chased me down, loving and wooing

You tenderly comfort me, You keep pursuing

And You’re not a man, that You would lie

You speak the truth, You don’t change Your mind

Father, You’ve pledged me Your love and that You won’t leave

And Your faithful ways are helping me see

Oh, Your constant love is bringing me healing

Jesus, Your gentle ways are what I’ve been needing

Now I have this hope, strong and unbreakable

It’s You that I cling to, You are unshakeable

You fiercely love me, shield and protect

Your love’s unconditional there are no strings attached.

Cause You, You’re not a man, that You would lie
